DELHI, INDIA
In 2017, I went to Delhi with my friend Ash Passi. He is also a photographer and we are friends since 2013. We love to explore different places and capture them in the camera.
On an evening of 30th July 2017, we were at Connaught Place, New Delhi. It was a rainy day and we were sitting in a shade and waiting till the rain stop. Suddenly, a boy came and ask me, do you want a shoe cleaning service? I rejected. The boy sits in front of me. I looked into his eyes, I see his pain. He was a little boy. Not supposed to be here at least in this condition. His eyes tell a story from poverty, the compulsion to his emotions. I captured his photography.
ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPH
The boy is a cobbler. He is very young. It seems that at the age of going to school and carrying books he is working and carrying heavy tools on his back. He was sitting on shoes making material, his cloth is torn. His eyes are finding dirty shoes so, he could clean them and get something to eat at night just for himself or maybe for his family also. This photo is highlighting one side of a city. If you look behind the boy a man was carrying a briefcase it seems that he is a businessman and can feed himself and his family, maybe his children go to schools. This image shows two different sides of life. Everyone has a dream some people have a dream to be a pilot or some have a dream to feed their family for tonight. That is why I called this photograph “Dream”.
EXHIBITION
In December of 2017, I was at Chandigarh University. I met a teacher “Nishant Trivedi” he is a great artist and professional photographer. He told me about the art exhibition and said to submit my best photography to the exhibition. He guides me in the process and helped me to submit my work. After, some days of the exhibition I receive a call that my work is selected for the exhibition. I was ecstatic because it was a very big thing for me, only my work was selected from my university.
